Auditions: Cantigas Women's Choir

HOBOKEN'S CANTIGAS WOMEN’S CHOIR SEEKS
NEW SINGERS FOR 2012-2013 SEASON

Cantigas Women’s Choir seeks committed singers for its upcoming 2012-2013 season. The Hoboken-based all-female group brings women of the community together — from all ages and all backgrounds —  to explore the rich tradition of women’s singing and perform a broad spectrum of global music, both classic and contemporary.

This year’s repertoire will include the music of Bach, Schubert, Mozart, Whitacre, and Brunner, as well as traditional and folkloric music from Spain, Argentina, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Brazil, Greece, Scotland, Afghanistan, Iran, Lebanon, Iraq, Syria, India, South Africa, and the United States.

The group rehearses on Thursday nights from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Mustard Seed School at 422 Willow Avenue in Hoboken. There are limited spaces available for committed and experienced choral singers.

Auditions will be held by appointment. Sight reading skills are desirable, but not required. Ability to sing in tune and blend in classical style is essential. To schedule an audition, please contact Artistic Director Joan Litman at joanlitman@gmail.com or visit one of the rehearsals in September.
