Introduction to HOPES CAP.

Introduction to HOPES CAP.

HOPES CAP, Inc.’s Mission:  Our mission is to provide community services that respond to the social, educational and training needs of its residents in an effort to overcome barriers and fight the causes of poverty.

Overview: HOPES CAP, Inc. is a not-for-profit organization and was established as a Community Action Program in 1966. As a result of the HOPES’s Mission to fight the causes of poverty, it has a variety of programs such as Senior Services, Community Assistance, Adult Services, Youth Services and Early Childhood Services.

Early Childhood Services: The Early Childhood Services are known as the Head Start Program and was implemented in 1966.   Head Start provides comprehensive services, including high quality early childhood development, nutrition, health, and social services, along with a strong parent involvement focus.  In 1972, Congress mandated that 10% of the enrollment slots be designated for children with special needs, including Autism.  Services are offered to children three to five years of age in Hoboken and Plainfield.   As of 2010, HOPES has been offering home-based services to expectant mothers and children from 0-3 years of age.

Vision: HOPES’s vision is that every child can benefit most from our comprehensive, interdisciplinary program to foster developmental and remedy problems as expressed in a broad range of services, and that the child’s entire family as well as the community will be involved. The program will assist in maximizing the strengths and unique experiences of each child.
